ZANG TUMMM TUMB ARTICLES “the first draft of history”

PROPAGANDA this week release their first new material in five years, their debut for Virgin, with a single called “Heaven Give Me Words”. Taken from their forthcoming LP, its backed with a non-album track, “Count Zero”. The 12-inch and CD versions carry extended mixes as well as the seven-inch version of the A-side. The song was written by band member Michael Mertens, co-producer Ian Stanley and the Howard Jones! Jones also plays keyboards on the track.

Originally a five-piece from Cologne, Propaganda have trimmed to a four-piece and changed their line-up. Mertens, the only original member, is joined by singer Betsy Miller and the former Simple Minds duo of Derek Forbes (bass) and Brian McGhee (drums). Forbes has been with Propaganda for some time, appearing live with them in 1985.
