INSIGNIFICANCE (Shape Of The Universe) Various (ZTT) Not so much an Insignificance soundtrack as, in true ZTT tradition, “a souvenir of music and dialogue” (to accompany the film of the same name). As is the current fashion, the LP contains chunks of desperately “meaningful” conversation from the film, surrounded by extended version of songs and tunes featured in it. Of these, the jazzy smooch of “A Dog Of A Night” and the bang! of “B-29 (Shape Of The Universe)” (very “Two Tribes”) stand up best to repeated listening. The real gems are on side two. Firstly, star of the film Theresa Russell sways through the tender “Life Goes On”, then there’s a fairly bizarre country and western duet “When Your Heart Runs Out Of Time” featuring Glenn Gregory and Claudia from Propaganda. Rum, very rum.
