HOLLY JOHNSON, the outrageous singer with ‘80s pop phenomenon Frankie Goes To Hollywood, revealed last week he is HIV Positive.
The gay singer’s admission came in an interview with The Times Magazine on Saturday although the story was leaked to the tabloids several days before. Johnson, 33, told journalist Alan Jackson that he probably caught the virus in London around 1983, a year before Frankie dominated the charts with the singles ‘Relax’, ‘Two Tribes’ and ‘The Power Of Love’. After Frankie split in the late ‘80s, Johnson went on to record two solo LPs for MCA before leaving the label in 1991.
